Megan Fox is now in the running to play the actress in the TV movie about her life and marriages to Richard Burton. Fox, 25, who bears a striking resemblance to a young Taylor, is understood to have already met with the producers of the film."I've been talking to Lindsay directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan," said Larry Thompson, the executive producer of the film.

Lohan, 25, is said to be pinning her hopes on landing the role to spark her comeback after years of drink and drug abuse that wrecked her career.

The troubled actress got a glowing report today as she checked in for her probation status hearing.

Her probation extends to March and unless there is a setback she would be free to start filming in Canada in the Spring. But in a blow to Lohan, Thompson said the actress's probation could be a 'complication.' The film, to be called Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story will chronicle Taylor's romantic relationship with Burton.

A third of Britons under 44 have one, including the wife of the Prime Minister. They are also not quite so indelible – welcome news for the 23 per cent of those who say they now regret their inkings.

Actress Megan Fox was recently reported to be having her Marilyn Monroe tattoo removed, while Bob Geldof’s daughter Peaches, who started her extensive collection of body art aged just 14, has said: ‘I regret every single tattoo I’ve ever had . . . I find them horrendous. If I could graft a completely new skin for myself, I would.’

Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears and Pamela Anderson are just a few other tattoo poster girls who have erased some of their ‘permanent’ markings.Tattoo removal used to involve painful dermabrasion, acidic skin peels or literally cutting the image out and then patching the area with skin grafts.

All these methods could leave horrendous scars. But such drastic action is no longer necessary.

Laser technology was first used for tattoo removal 20 years ago and has come a long way since then.

‘In many cases we are able to completely erase the tattoo,’ says Paul Stapleton, laser protection adviser and managing director of Mapperley Park Clinic in Nottingham, which has treated more than 5,000 tattooed patients.

Tattoos are created by injecting ink about a millimetre into the dermis – the middle layer of your skin. As it doesn’t shed like the skin’s surface layers, the ink won’t wear away. The ink particles are too big to be broken down by the immune system so they remain there.

The lasers work by splitting the ink into smaller fragments, allowing them to be broken down by the body and naturally excreted.

Several colours of laser light are used to target different pigments. Red light works best on blue, black and red inks; green light targets red and orange; near infrared works on dark pigments while another wavelength of infrared is absorbed by green and dark pigments.

‘Twenty years ago, only red light was available, but by 2000, the wavelengths to target further colours were being developed,’ says industry expert Adrian Myrick, aesthetic equipment general manager of Wigmore Medical.

Green remains the most difficult pigment to erase and some colours are still virtually impossible to eradicate. ‘The newest lasers combine four wavelengths in one machine and are increasingly powerful so that results are quicker and more effective,’ he adds.

The laser handpiece is held like a pen, so removal can be precise – even making ‘editing’ possible. ‘We are sometimes asked to alter a name within an existing tattoo without touching the surrounding artwork.

‘It’s now possible to target areas as minute as one millimetre,’ says Stapleton, who says his clinic is the busiest it has been in 15 years.

Treatment normally lasts months, depending on the size of the tattoo and the pigments used. It generally costs about £1,000 but can be much more.

‘It will undoubtedly set you back more than the original tattoo,’ says consultant plastic surgeon David Gault, who has had some patients come to his clinic on the way back from the tattoo studio, begging him to remove their body art.

Someone's been studying at the Angelina Jolie Academy for Improving One's Image, haven't they, hmm, Megan Fox? Hmm? The Transformers star has done an about-face in terms of her attitude and her health, it seems. She told Amica magazine that she's given up her strict vegan ways and now eats almost everything in moderation and exercises. Megan admits that she found herself too thin and wanted to switch up her diet in order to look and feel a little healthier.

I used to think that Megan Fox would be the last person I'd take dieting advice from, but she makes a lot of good points. She said:

Exclusive: More so than any of his previous films, Judd Apatow‘s next movie is being kept firmly under wraps. We know that it’s a spin-off to “Knocked Up,” focusing on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann‘s characters from that film, we know that Rudd’s character now runs a record label, we know it’s being referred to in some circles as “This is Forty,” although that’s not the official title, and we know that Apatow has assembled a typically salivating supporting cast, with Albert Brooks, John Lithgow, Chris O’Dowd, Lena Dunham, Melissa McCarthy, Annie Mumulo, Ryan Lee, Wyatt Russell, Robert Smigel, and a few returning alumni of the 2007 comedy, including Jason Segel and Charlyne Yi, although not, it would appear, Seth Rogen.

As such, people have been filling in the blanks a bit, but we spoke to one of the big actresses who’s new to the Apatow fold, “Transformers” veteran Megan Fox, who’s in Toronto in support of her role in Jennifer Westfeldt‘s “Friends With Kids,” and while she didn’t give the game away—fair enough, considering the film won’t be released until the end of 2012—she was at least happy to undermine some of your assumptions about what her role in the film might turn out to be. Fox told us that she’s just wrapped on Apatow’s film, and told us when we asked about her role that she couldn’t say too much, but “I can tell you what I don’t play, because I know what people are assuming.” Indeed, with Fox being one of the most widely-desired women on the planet, and the film focusing at least in part of a marriage, we assumed that she’d be playing some kind of extra-marital temptation for Rudd, but it seems that won’t be the case. “My character has nothing to do with Paul and Leslie’s marriage. There’s no weird love triangle or anything like that, I’m not connected to them in that way at all. That’s what I can tell you.”

It’s good to see that Apatow’s gone beyond the obvious route here, and we’re interested to see what Fox’s role turns out to be. The 25-year-old star confirmed to Italian fashion magazine Amica that she is in the process of removing (via laser treatments) the talked-about portrait of the Hollywood legend from her famous body.

"I'm removing it," Fox says. "She was a negative person, she was disturbed, bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life." (Indeed, the notoriously troubled Monroe died in 1962 at age 36 of a drug overdose.)

But the Transformers bombshell has plenty of other body art staying on -- with over nine other tattoos, including a quote in honor of her Passion Play costar Mickey Rourke on her ribcage, a tribal tattoo on her left wrist and another quote on her shoulder.

I found out. I also found out why so many stars are really getting their ink blasted. The intel may surprise you, because, heck, it surprised me ...

So does that mean that a tattoo is totally forever?

No. According to Ian Kirby of the Beverly Hills-based removal practice Dr. Tattoff, what you're seeing isn't a before or after, but rather, somewhere in between. Too often, when we see a paparazzi photo celebrity's tattoo "removed," what we're really seeing is a star's body in the middle of the slow process of nixing it.

During a proper removal procedure, "the laser comes in like a hammer and smashes the ink pigment, allowing your body's immune system to more easily take it away," Kirby explains. "Your body does half the work in removing a tattoo that way."

In other words, that faded Marilyn we're seeing? Those are blasted, weakened bits of ink that Fox's own body is now working to finish off. Eventually, Kirby predicts, "it seems like she'll probably see a full removal" of the image.

As for why Fox is really removing the image in the first place, sure, maybe she doesn't want all that "negativity" around. And, yes, a lot of stars remove the tats after a breakup. But here's another reason that you may not know: Stars hate sitting in a makeup chair. Kirby says that many of the celebs who use Dr. Tattoff tell the doctors there that they want to decrease their time in that makeup chair, so they're getting their tats, well, off.

Dry or sore lips could indicate anything from diabetes to herpes or Crohn's disease.

"But it could also be down to something more serious. If symptoms persist and you can't find a reason for it, then it's best to consult a pharmacist or a GP.

Within 24 hours, blisters may start to appear on and around the lips which are painful and, after a few days, they can burst and leak contagious fluid.

Avoid touching these sores, kissing or even sharing soaps, flannels or lipstick.

Numb lips

Could mean: Severe allergy

Numbness or tingling in the lips, especially if it is rapidly followed by swelling, could be a sign of a severe allergic reaction to a food or chemical.

Doctors call this angiooedema and it means the body is releasing huge amounts of the hormone histamine into the bloodstream in an over-reaction by the immune system.

Blue lips

Could mean: Croup

Going blue around the mouth and lips is a sure sign of a lack of oxygen.

In babies, it can be a symptom of croup, a respiratory condition that causes a hoarse, barking cough.

In adults, blue lips are often a symptom when the heart is struggling to pump oxygen-rich blood around the body, for example in people who suffer from chronic heart failure.

Lip rash

Could mean: Eczema

A rash around the edge of the mouth is often due to dry skin caused by excessive lip licking or thumb-sucking.

Of course, if you were to compare both the actresses, I have to agree that Megan played her role well. But her acting skills were surely honed by her stints in Ocean Avenue, a Swedish-American soap opera, and Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen.

And Rosie? She zipped from a Victoria's Secret catalogue to the silver screen. It couldn't have been an easy transition - the pitfalls of acting are greater than tripping on the runway or getting sand into her unmentionables in a beach shoot.I say it is still too early to pass judgment on her acting skills - everybody has to start out somewhere and landing a lead actress role in a summer blockbuster is definitely going to get her somewhere.

Moreover, Megan, as Mikaela, set the bar pretty high. In previous instalments of Transformers, she played a spunky chick who has a record for grand theft auto, rides a bike and fights Decepticons. She enshrined herself as every fanboy’s wet dream.

But somewhere along the way, director Michael Bay must have decided it was time for Sam Witwicky (Shia Lebeouf) to grow up and become a man. If you compare the two actresses and their roles in the franchise, Megan is like Angelina Jolie, the one wearing the pants in the relationship. Rosie plays the exact opposite. She has a certain vulnerability which makes her your nice, sweet trophy girlfriend.
The two actresses are exact opposites of a magnet - and Rosie's role is one Megan would never have been able to pull off.

Just like with Megan in Bay's first two Transformers movies, Rosie's beauty was captured in deliberate slow motion part.

While these moments came across excessive and a ploy to disguise the bad dialogue, they were a good platform for Rosie to further affirm her worth as a model - she looked so good in front of the camera.
Whatever she lacked in acting talent, she made up for with her beauty.

So it's like this: I entered the cinemas expecting to be let down by Rosie's performance. Instead, I emerged a Rosie Huntington-Whiteley convert - and a leg guy.

The wrinkles Megan is showing us don’t coincide with brow anatomy, nor do they match the facial expression she is making.”Even if the photos are real, they do not necessarily prove the actress is free of Botox or plastic surgery, other doctors have said. “This photo is totally consistent with the wrinkle pattern you will see in someone whose Botox has begun wearing off,” plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow of Newport Beach told The OC Register. “When you have Botox to the entire face, different parts wear off at different rates and can give you a strangish-looking pattern of wrinkles until it all wears off. "I did people's make-up. Dead people's, actually," she revealed. "I was good at that too. I learned the trade and the first job that came up was with a mortician."

While working there, things got a little spooky for Whoopi. "I got a call saying I was wanted in the boss's office," she said in an interview. "Which just happened to be where the bodies were kept in drawers. A few minutes later I heard sort of creaking. I turned round and one of the drawers was slowly opening. Megan Fox -- not the actress, but the daughter of nightclub owners Robbie and Martina Fox -- is launching a festival for "bands with balls" next month that will give Irish alternative acts a chance to bring their music to the masses.

The rising star has a number of alternative indie, rock and electro-pop bands lined up for the two-day music extravaganza, including Readers Wives, Kid Karate and A Plastic Rose.

The homegrown acts will take to the stage at Dublin's Crawdaddy on August 5 and 6. Speaking about the festival, entitled 'Crackity Jones Lost Weekend', Fox says: "Music has become a fashion accessory these days rather than something people believe in.

"I want to broaden people's minds and surprise them with what's out there."

And although her father is a close pal of MCD boss Denis Desmond, she is determined to succeed on her own: "I'm too stubborn to ask for help. I like doing my own thing," she says with a laugh.

Tickets on the door cost €10 for a day pass and €15 for the two-day line-up.

Students protected if courses go bust

A bond system to protect more than 100,000 students who have no comeback if those providing courses in further and higher education go out of business will be introduced by Irish Course Providers Association (ICPA).

The ICPA's inaugural council meeting last week decided to put in place a fund for members offering courses lasting at least three months. The fund will indemnify students if any member ceases trading or is unable, for whatever reason, to finish or even deliver an enrolled course.

The ICPA (formed six weeks ago and already with 100 members) is seeking a meeting with Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn to get his department's support, and that of Fetac and Hetac for the bond scheme.

Currently private course providers, offering Fetac or Hetac courses of three months' duration or more, must get a guarantee from two other registered providers that, in the event of the course provider going out of business, they will take over and guarantee to finish out the course.

However, plenty remains available: fish, meat, eggs, berries and many root vegetables – such as carrots and swedes – are all in play, as are most nuts, with the exceptions of the humble peanut and cashew. And if the veggies are as close their raw state as possible, so much the better – cavemen didn’t own George Foreman grills. Dieticians and nutritionists who compiled the report, which evaluated a number of other celeb diets, said the Caveman diet (also known as the Paleo diet) would “likely disappoint…and was least effective for weight loss.” Their findings, however, seemed to be very much at odds with the views of the readers who had road-tested the various plans and deemed it successful.

Healthy Fact:
In terms of how healthy the diet is, well, the news appears to be good. Any diet which aims to remove processed foods, full of salt, sugar and various additives would seem to be a winner. In fact, many Caveman diet fans have claimed that their appetite for sugar and salt was noticeably diminished after a couple of weeks. Some dieters have reported feelings of lethargy as the body gets used to coping without carbs, but that energy levels are eventually higher than ever. Reports have put the actress on a bad light, as she was cited for very unprofessional behaviour on set.

Why is all the press surrounding the new Transformers movie about Megan Fox, who isn't even in the movie? Is this the studio's plan?

It's a delicious conspiracy theory, isn't it? We imagine a smoky back room, filled with studio execs. They take a look at the final cut of Dark of the Moon, wail and moan as their eyes bleed out of their sockets, and then decide to market the whole mess by trashing franchise refugee Megan Fox.

So is this what happened? I asked around:

Likely, not.

Yes, by many accounts, this is not a good movie, even by blockbuster-sequel standards. It bows this week—but it's gotten a stinky 39 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. CNN is calling it "lousy," Rolling Stone warns that viewers run the risk of "dying a little inside," and my buddy Garth Franklin at Dark Horizons went so far as to say that watching the film was like "being urinated upon." The biggest complaint: that despite all the exploding robots, the story is just empty.

There is no there, there.

Still, it's unlikely that the studio behind the film orchestrated its marketing campaign around trashing Megan Fox. Publicists are evil, but they're not, I am told, that evil.

"I think that it's a little too much of a conspiracy theory," posits Rachel Hill, a former personal publicist and the current director of marketing at American World Pictures, which is about to shoot a new Danny Glover film.

"I doubt that anything like that would be formally approved by any studio," Scott Donaton of the marketing group Ensemble agrees.

That said, don't be shocked if the movie's principle star, Shia LaBeouf, did think through his Fox-trashing in advance, Hill says.

"Did Shia have to answer those questions about him and Megan Fox?" Hill notes. "Was it necessary? Maybe he did it to raise his profile a bit.

"I've had clients in the past who, when scandals have come out, we didn't deny things. In fact we kept the scandal going because it kept our clients in the public eye."

Despite initial reports that Fox left the Transformers series on her own, Director Michael Bay is now coming clean. Months after the actress told a British magazine that Bay “wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for,” the team behind the Transformers franchise revealed all in an interview with GQ.

Bay revealed that Fox was always on her Blackberry, unfocused and disinterested. Screenwriter Ehren Kruger described the actress, saying, “She seemed like an actress who didn’t want to be a part of it.”

Even former co-star Shia LaBeouf acknowledged the issue. “Criticism is one thing. Then there’s public name-calling, which turns into high school bashing. Which you can’t do. She started s***-talking our captain.”

Bay also told GQ that firing Fox was ultimately executive producer Steven Spielberg’s decision, and that the Hitler comment definitely factored in.
